Vintage Halloween Inspired Window Silhouette

Find Vintage Halloween Halloween inspiration when styling your Halloween parties! For my annual Nancy Drew Halloween party, the front window silhouette combine Nancy Drew in her infamous silhouette pose with magnifying glass and scarf with the bottom of this witch image on this old Halloween costume box. The witch's skirt and the skeleton marionette were great inspiration for my skeleton decor this year. Vintage Style Halloween Invites

A great way to have a vintage style Halloween party is to recreate a  vintage invitation for your guests - like this old Dennison invite. Take vintage imagery and use the wording of the old invites like this one:

"When the Hallowe'en Cat
Winks his wild yellow eyes
And the Wicked Witch watches
And the black  Crow cries
Come, join the revel
In the moon's ghostly light"

Halloween Poison Lab - Vintage Inspired

Check out Collector Marti's vintage inspired poison lab set up. She collected various bottles including vintage pieces and used labels she'd been buying and ones she printed out from online to create a really neat set up of vintage style poison bottles. Perfectly creepy for a spooky Halloween!

Oct. 21 - Day 21: Vintage Halloween Collectibles Display #3

Vintage Halloween Collectibles
& Vintage Style Decor

Blog reader Mary Beth sent me these images of her decorating for Halloween which mixes vintage and vintage style so nicely! I love especially the Hobgoblin dishes and cups--from the Bruce Elsass collection from Bethany Lowe! You'll see quite a bit of Johanna Parker's products as well like the party hat on the cake stand above.

Everything looks so neat--thanks to Mary Beth for sharing her haunts.

Countdown to Halloween - Oct. 26th: Vintage Bogie Books

Halloween Party hostesses relied back in the day on party helpers like these Dennison Bogie Books - booklets that gave lots of tips on party planning, decorations, food, games, and favors. The marketing genius was that each booklet used the various products in the Dennison line and showed a hostess how to use them in clever ways.

These books are great resources for showing what was available from Dennison each year as well.

Collectors like to acquire these books but they can be very pricey. One way to collect them inexpensively is to purchase reproductions--I've seen some repros listed at eBay and also Amazon this year.

Countdown to Halloween - Oct. 18th: Vintage Table Decor

The Halloween table should be festive! The above scene from an old Dennison Bogie book sports crepe, swag, cutouts, and favors. You can display vintage or make your own using vintage images--paper decorations are inexpensive to make and there are so many creative options. Often seals like these below from Dennison were used to decorate the table, cups, party favors and just about anything you could adhere them to for that spooktacular look.

The Invitation: Make it Spooktacular!

Bogie Book Image

As taken from our Party Ideas page at our website:

The Invitation:

Invitations should be bold and have an air of mystery to set a haunting mood and entice your guests.

Suggestions include: handmade paper invites or computer printed invites with magical wording.

Use images with vintage flair or copies of old images from vintage postcards and other paper ephemera.

Some examples of old-time invitation wording:

"Won't you come and
Sport with fate
on Hallowe'en
at -------- o'clock"

Whe-ee - Who-oo!
We-want-you oo
At this number:_____
On this street_______
Hallowe'en's the time
We meet

If on a broomstick you can't fly
Some other way of traveling try,
But come you must, at _____o'clock
to _____________St.

Come to our
Hallowe'en "Hoop-te-dee"
Scare-crows -
'n everything
on a Spree!

Other invitation suggestions include delivering jack o' lanterns to your invitees, asking guests to bring a jack o' lantern as their ticket of entry, and creating a box filled with trinkets and favors along with the RSVP information.
