Countdown to Halloween - Oct. 24 - Carving Faux Pumpkins

Bruce sent me some photos of his pumpkin carving on faux pumpkins--from Funkins to those he has purchased at Michael's. The key he says to carving, is to use a hot knife as it will carve like slicing through butter!

And if you're in need of a great tool kit, here's the Martha Stewart kit at Macys:

Several things to keep in mind:

1. Traditional pumpkins are a classic but consider gourds and squashes too for other effects.

2. Use battery operated tea-lights or strings of lights around a jar to avoid candles and wind blowing them out too.

3. If you don't like to get messy with pumpkin carving, you can always paint and decorate a pumpkin with spooky effects.
