Vintage Halloween in the Sept. 2018 issue of Country Sampler Magazine

The Sept. 2018 issue of Country Sampler Magazine features some Vintage Halloween in a section on collecting and then there's an article on collector Rosemary Olson and her decorating - featuring vintage decor throughout the article - I've added a few sample images plus Matthew Mead has a fun article on decorating and I've included a sample image from that and some vintage style lanterns we carry in the Vintage Halloween Store are in this issue that you can purchase at The Vintage Halloween Store.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Matthew Mead's Frightfully Fun Halloween

By far one of the best Halloween magazines out this year is Matthew Mead's Frightfully Fun Halloween out on stands now. It's got some very clever and inventive ideas and lots of inspiration that has been lacking in other magazines! I've previewed a few things below that I really liked - the diorama, the owls, the steampunk style pumpkins - and especially painting the pumpkins to look like old vintage Halloween papier mache lanterns was clever. I love how they turned out! Also featured was a framed vintage Beistle cutout of a pumpkin with a wheat stalk in its mouth - we sell repros of this cutout and the rest of the series (8 in all - 4 shown below) at The Vintage Halloween Website Store.

 

 

 

 

 

Matthew Mead's Halloween Spooktacular

I just got my copy of Matthew Mead's Halloween Spooktacular! And it's Spooktacular for sure. Featuring great new ideas and coming in at 256 pages, it's a great resource for your Halloween parties!

Some of my favorites are the Creatures from the Deep spooky nautical theme for pumpkin silhouettes, lots of interesting pumpkin decorating ideas, the Poltergeist party was so neat as well as the vintage style black cats party. Here's some samples from the book that I especially enjoyed:

Matthew Mead's Halloween book is a whimsical delight as always :) I just got mine in today and have been pouring over it looking all all the festive orange and black! There are so many neat ideas and even a couple of features on artists--Robert Brawley and also Johanna Parker!

In addition to the artist features, some of my favorites at a glance include the "killer cookies," "moonstruck," "enchanted possessions," and "masquerade."

There is a cute Halloween in white article called "White Magic" - and I especially like the fondant tootsie pop ghosts. I make Tootsie pop ghosts every year and this was an especially clever idea!

A favorite article is artist Johanna Parker's piece featuring her visit with her mom, collector Mark Craven, and Bruce Elsass of the Hobgoblins Collection at a gathering featuring Mark's vintage pieces, Johanna and Bruce's creations, and a host of good eats. Featured our Johanna's new tin horns which are spooktacular and a real treat:
