Ghost in the Graveyard Game

Anyone remember playing Ghost in the Graveyard as a kid? I remember loving this game :) It's a version of tag, in which the designated ghost tries to turn others into ghosts before they can get back to a safe zone. Consider playing a round of this at your parties this year!

I was searching for a MSL clip on You Tube and ran across this old clip from her '99 special--boy did the kids seem scared ;-) Amusing! Enjoy :) I discovered there's not a whole lot of vintage Martha clips on You Tube, I have old video tapes from some of her past shows but wanted to highlight some of those things here for you. I spotted several more neat things on a visit to Michaels this week. Above are 2 Styrofoam lanterns that are nice and light weight. Below they have candy corn painted faux pumpkins and some great decorate it yourself pieces like the candlesticks, skulls, haunted houses, pumpkins and the witch face plus an assortment of body parts!

Special Martha Stewart Halloween Handbook

If you were hoping for a special Martha Stewart Halloween Handbook this season, it looks like one from 2 years ago is back on the stands! Maybe we'll see another pop out, but I doubt it, if this one has been reissued from 2010. It's a neat one though so if you didn't pick it up then, here's your chance.

I'd love to see MSL put out a new one next year though with mostly new content, rather than recycle old content. There are so many neat ideas that could be showcased and they could focus on artists and crafters plus sections on "vintage style" which is so popular right now and what I focus on so much at Vintage Halloween. Plus some vintage collecting pieces. I think it would go over very well among her fans. (Hint Hint!)

Getting people to your Halloween party might be easy if you're know for throwing a fabulous affair :) Sometimes it doesn't hurt to pamper them a little with a fun and festive invite! We've got several festive invites at The Vintage Halloween Store. These 2 invitation kits from Martha Stewart are clever! The Spinner Invites shown above have a real working spinner and the striped envelopes lined with orange paper are so clever.

You can find all kinds of vintage Halloween lanterns at eBay but the trick is to weeding out the reproductions and the ones that maybe have been "restored" by repainting and/or adding new inserts. Want some advice on how to weed out the newer/re-purposed from the vintage, check out Mark Ledenbach's website for advice in the FAQ section on this subject.

I picked up the 2012 Better Homes & Gardens Tricks & Treats magazine today and found several clever items I'll be previewing here. One of my favorite articles in this issue was "The Witching Hour" party which featured mostly a black/white theme that included some great silhouettes!
