I was at a local shop here and saw these Dept. 56 pumpkins that have a very Steam Punk look to them. They were clever!

Country Living October 2012 Magazine

Country Living October 2012 Issue

I picked up the October 2012 issue of Country Living today. The cover features some pumpkins and mentions Halloween ideas. For you vintage collectors, there are no vintage or vintage style Halloween features this year. Not even in the collecting section.

There are 3 spooky craft ideas like a mini ghost town and some neat magnifying glasses made spooky--I especially liked the magnifying glass idea. Like last year's issue, there's an article on pumpkin decorating. An article on candy apple decorating. They have an article on "arsenic and old lace" featuring decorating with "arsenic" and lace which was interesting. The last several years haven't been as focused on Halloween as they used to be it would seem, however, it may be that this was due this year to the fact that there's a special compilation Country Living/Redbook/Good Housekeeping Halloween Magazine out on the stands. I'll feature that one in another Blog post.

Halloween at Barnes & Noble

Halloween at Barnes & Noble

I stopped in to Barnes & Noble to check out fall magazines and discovered a table of Halloween items. Included on the table was a glass container with little boxes featuring vintage Halloween images and they had some cute loot bags too:

Halloween at T.J. Maxx

Halloween at T.J.Maxx

I managed to drop in to my local T.J. Maxx store--probably a bit late to catch most of the goodies I've been hearing about but they still had a few things in stock--here's a sampling. What kind of things did you find at your local T.J. Maxx stores?

Halloween at Jo-Ann #1

Halloween at JoAnn #1

I stopped in at Jo-Ann to check out their Halloween selection this past weekend. A few things caught my eye like the black glass "Witch's Potion" bottle and spell books above. Also of interest were the eyeball wine charms, the skull wreath and Witch mirror of which they just had 1 left on the shelf (part of me is reflected in her face--the blue shirt anyhow) and the fun witch knee high socks:

Circus Peanuts Pumpkins

Circus Peanut Pumpkins

Do you love circus peanuts? Not only are they tasty but the color lends itself to making pumpkins out of them. I saw this idea in a past issue of Disney Family Fun Magazine and thought they were clever!

Woman's Day Halloween Celebrations 2012

Woman's Day Halloween Celebrations

I picked up the annual Halloween edition put out by Woman's Day today at Barnes & Noble. The ghost cupcakes on the cover look yummy!

Inside there's some new content, but a big portion of the magazine is 75 of their favorite ideas over the years for Halloween decorations, crafts, and treats.

Did you know, there's a Spook City, CO? Or a Witch Lake, MI? How about Scary, WV?

I enjoyed the decoration ideas with pumpkins and porch decor and the pumpkin farm article was nice. There are 2 party set ups - one for kids and one for adults.

Of the 75 favorite ideas from issues past, I especially enjoyed the candy corn decorating--garlands, tree, wreath. Definitely going to have to try the sweet and salty candy corn fudge.

Halloween at Hobby Lobby #1

Halloween at Hobby Lobby #1

When I stepped into Hobby Lobby today I "swooned" at the sight of the big Black & Orange displays :) They had an aisle of Halloween and then 3 big island displays of goodies. I took a few pictures to share. I purchased a few crows in the Fall decor area too.

I've definitely got my eye on getting a few more of the black cake stands!
